23andMe is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to lead the evolution of their public-facing web platform. Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in full stack development with a focus on frontend technologies, particularly Next.js and React. Your experience includes mentoring junior engineers and leading architectural decisions to enhance user experiences on public-facing platforms. You are comfortable working with backend technologies like Python and Django, ensuring seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.
You excel in creating responsive, accessible, and performant web interfaces, translating design mockups into high-quality code. Your mastery of HTML semantics and CSS architecture allows you to set standards for layouts, styling, and animations. You are also familiar with AWS services, enabling you to leverage cloud capabilities in your projects.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the architecture and development of the Next.js platform, leading the evolution of 23andMe's public-facing site. You will collaborate closely with design teams to ensure that user interfaces are not only visually appealing but also functionally robust. Your responsibilities will include building APIs and data flows that power the UI, ensuring that the backend supports the frontend effectively.
You will mentor a team of junior engineers and contractors, guiding them in best practices for both frontend and backend development. Your role will involve diving into multiple codebases, allowing you to apply your full stack expertise to various challenges. You will also be responsible for setting performance benchmarks and ensuring that the platform meets high standards of quality and user satisfaction.
What we offer
23andMe provides a competitive salary range of $180,000—$250,000 USD for candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
