Job Description
Who you are
You have over 6 years of professional experience in a technical role such as model development, model validation, or data analytics — you've honed your skills in assessing and improving complex financial models. Your deep knowledge of Asset Liability Management (ALM), treasury, and corporate finance allows you to navigate the intricacies of financial risk management effectively.
Hands-on ability to script in languages like Python is essential — you've utilized Python to automate processes, analyze data, and validate models, ensuring accuracy and reliability in your work. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with various teams to drive improvements and implement effective risk management frameworks.
Your analytical mindset enables you to identify key model weaknesses and highlight opportunities for enhancement — you are adept at conducting rigorous validations and ongoing monitoring to ensure model integrity. You understand the importance of compliance and work closely with Accounting, Internal Controls, and Compliance teams to meet and exceed audit expectations.
Desirable
Experience with advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques would be a plus — you are familiar with the latest trends in data science and how they can be applied to financial modeling. A background in regulatory requirements related to model risk management is also beneficial, as it helps you navigate the compliance landscape effectively.
What you'll do
In this role, you will conduct independent validations of sophisticated models across finance, treasury, and analytics — your work will involve in-depth reviews, testing, and ongoing monitoring to ensure the accuracy and integrity of these models. You will identify key model weaknesses and collaborate with teams to build stronger, more powerful tools that enhance decision-making processes.
You will partner with model owners and developers to implement and enhance Affirm's company-wide Model Risk Management framework — your insights will help ensure that the framework remains effective and innovative, adapting to the evolving landscape of financial risk. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with various teams across the business to drive the remediation of validation findings and ensure that all models meet the highest standards.
Your role will also involve engaging with the Accounting, Internal Controls, and Compliance teams — you will ensure that all audit and regulatory expectations are met, contributing to a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization. You will be at the forefront of shaping a best-in-class risk framework that supports Affirm's mission to reinvent credit.
What we offer
At Affirm, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to making credit more honest and friendly — we believe in providing our employees with the tools and support they need to succeed. You will have the opportunity to work in a fully remote environment, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.
We offer competitive compensation and benefits, recognizing the value of your expertise and contributions to our mission. You will be encouraged to grow professionally, with opportunities for continuous learning and development in the field of model risk management and data analytics.
Join us in our mission to transform the credit landscape — your work will have a direct impact on how we serve our customers and shape the future of finance.
