Overview

Airbnb is hiring an Engineering Manager for their Guest & Host Services team to lead a diverse group of software developers. You'll focus on improving co-hosting services and infrastructure. This role requires strong leadership and technical expertise.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a proven track record of leading engineering teams and driving technical projects to success. With your experience in software development, you understand the intricacies of building scalable systems and the importance of collaboration across teams. You are adept at engaging with diverse stakeholders and fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity within your team. Your leadership style emphasizes mentorship and growth, ensuring that each team member can thrive and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

You possess strong strategic planning skills, allowing you to align engineering efforts with business goals effectively. You are comfortable diving deep into technical challenges and guiding your team through complex problem-solving scenarios. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders is a key asset, enabling you to bridge gaps and facilitate collaboration across departments.

Desirable

Experience with co-hosting platforms or similar services would be a plus, as would familiarity with the travel and hospitality industry. You are open to exploring new technologies and methodologies that can enhance team performance and product offerings. A background in working with international teams is also beneficial, as you will collaborate closely with engineering teams in the US and France.

What you'll do

As the Engineering Manager for Guest & Host Services, you will lead a talented team of software developers focused on enhancing Airbnb's co-hosting services. Your responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day operations, conducting technical deep dives, and engaging with the community to gather feedback and insights. You will work closely with your peers across various departments, including Booking, Payments, and Trust, to ensure that the engineering vision aligns with the broader business strategy.

You will be responsible for creating a flexible and efficient solution architecture that scales with the needs of the business. This involves not only managing the technical aspects of the projects but also fostering a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to share ideas and take ownership of their work. You will conduct regular one-on-ones with your team members to support their professional development and ensure they have the resources they need to succeed.

In addition to managing your team, you will play a crucial role in strategic planning, helping to shape the future of Airbnb's co-hosting services. You will analyze performance metrics and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and innovation. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving growth and adoption of the co-hosting platform, ultimately enhancing the experience for both hosts and guests.

What we offer

Airbnb offers a competitive salary range of £120,000—£150,000 GBP annually, along with potential bonuses, equity, and benefits. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values creativity and collaboration. As part of a global team, you will contribute to a mission that connects people and fosters community through unique travel experiences. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
