Who you are

You have over 6 years of industry experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development. Your educational background includes a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience that showcases your technical expertise. You are skilled in building production systems at scale and have a deep understanding of backend technologies, particularly Java and Spring. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to align on product requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.

Your experience includes mentoring and supporting other engineers, helping them grow in their roles while fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration. You are adept at driving the scoping, technical requirements, design, implementation, and operation of new functionalities, ensuring that the backend components you build are reusable and maintainable. You understand the importance of delivering value to users and are committed to creating seamless experiences for hosts and guests alike.

Desirable

While not mandatory, experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus. Familiarity with API design and management, as well as knowledge of microservices architecture, can further enhance your contributions to the team. You are also encouraged to bring any additional skills or experiences that could benefit the Listings Backend Onboarding and Management team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will collaborate with the Client Engineering, Product Management, and Design teams to define and implement backend functionalities that empower hosts to create and manage their stays and experiences effectively. You will be responsible for building high-quality, reusable backend components that are integral to the success of the Airbnb platform. Your work will directly contribute to the biannual releases that enhance the overall user experience for both hosts and guests.

You will drive the technical requirements and design discussions, ensuring that the solutions you propose align with the broader goals of the company. Your expertise will be crucial in mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance on best practices in software development. You will also engage in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's processes and methodologies.

As part of the Listings Backend Onboarding and Management team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that have a significant impact on the Airbnb community. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and monitoring, ensuring that the systems you build are robust and scalable.
