You have extensive experience in applied science, particularly in machine learning and robotics β you've successfully led teams in developing algorithms and models that drive innovation in complex environments. Your leadership skills are complemented by a strong technical background, allowing you to set a clear vision and roadmap for scientific initiatives.
You excel in translating ambiguous real-world problems into rigorous modeling approaches β your ability to balance long-term scientific innovation with immediate delivery milestones has been key to your success. You are adept at fostering collaboration between science, engineering, and operations, ensuring that all teams work cohesively towards common goals.
Your experience includes building high-performing teams β you understand the importance of mentoring and developing talent within your team, helping them grow while achieving project objectives. You are committed to maintaining high standards for safety and operational performance in all your projects.
Desirable
Experience with human-robot interaction (HRI) and data-driven autonomy validation would be a plus β you are familiar with the challenges of operating in unstructured real-world environments and have a track record of implementing solutions that scale across various scenarios.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the applied science vision for Amazonβs Last-Hundred-Yard automation initiative β your responsibilities will include developing algorithms and models that enable safe and reliable autonomous delivery from vehicle to customer doorstep. You will oversee the scientific direction across various domains, including perception, localization, prediction, planning, and learning-based controls.
You will be responsible for setting the technical vision and research-to-production roadmap β this involves ensuring tight integration between science, engineering, simulation, and operations. You will translate complex delivery challenges into measurable autonomy improvements and production-ready solutions that can adapt to different cities, terrains, and weather conditions.
Your leadership will be crucial in defining how Amazon applies science to unlock autonomous last-mile delivery at scale β you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the project align with the company's goals and customer expectations. You will also play a key role in validating the effectiveness of the solutions developed, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
