You have a strong background in applied science with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or Computer Vision (CV) — your experience includes designing and developing machine learning solutions that address complex challenges in responsible AI. You are a leader who enjoys mentoring and collaborating with other scientists to elevate the quality of research and innovation within your team. Your technical expertise spans various areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Understanding (NLU), and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), allowing you to apply these technologies effectively across different business cases.
You thrive in environments where you can leverage your knowledge of generative AI to create impactful solutions — your passion for building scientifically driven applications is evident in your previous work. You understand the importance of responsible AI and are committed to developing algorithms that prioritize ethical considerations while enhancing user experiences. What you'll do
As a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon, you will lead a team of exceptional scientists in the Alexa Sensitive Content Intelligence (ASCI) group — your primary responsibility will be to design and develop machine learning solutions that enhance the Alexa experience while ensuring responsible AI practices. You will collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to create customer-facing experiences that utilize speech, language, and computer vision technologies.
Your role will involve mentoring junior scientists and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within your team — you will guide them in developing novel algorithms and modeling techniques that push the boundaries of NLP and CV. You will also be responsible for conducting research that informs the development of new features and capabilities for Alexa, ensuring that the solutions you create are both effective and ethically sound.
In addition to technical leadership, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration, working with various stakeholders to align on project goals and deliverables. You will be instrumental in shaping the direction of the ASCI team, driving initiatives that prioritize user safety and responsible content management.
