Backend Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You have 3+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong foundation in backend engineering. You are comfortable working in a cloud environment and have experience developing cloud backend services that support user and node clients. You are proficient in at least one programming language, ideally Java, and understand the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and testing practices.

You have a solid understanding of design patterns and system architecture, with 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems. You are familiar with writing extensible APIs for partner teams and external clients, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work closely with product, design, mobile, web, and QA engineers.

What you'll do

In this role, you will quickly iterate on customer-facing features, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the eero customer experience. You will develop cloud backend services that support user and node clients, ensuring that these services are operationally sound. You will lead and participate in design reviews for large-scale software architecture, contributing your expertise to improve system reliability and scalability.

You will create tools and automation to eliminate manual work, streamlining processes and improving efficiency. Additionally, you will participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring that cloud services remain operational and addressing any issues that arise promptly. Your contributions will directly impact how customers view, manage, and troubleshoot their WiFi networks, aligning with eero's mission to serve as the central nervous system of the home.
