Overview

Amazon is hiring a Senior Audio Software Development Engineer to design and implement audio functionalities for embedded systems. You'll work with technologies like Android, ARM, and various audio stacks. This role requires 10+ years of software development experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have over 10 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on audio software for embedded systems. Your expertise includes working with audio stacks on Android, QNX, or proprietary operating systems, and you are familiar with components like Audio Flinger and Audio HAL. You possess a deep understanding of ARM and DSP architectures, and you have hands-on experience with audio frameworks such as ALSA and Pulse Audio. Your background also includes exposure to Dolby MS12, DTS, and MPEG-TS, as well as knowledge of audio/video synchronization techniques. You are comfortable using tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to optimize audio performance.

You have a proven track record of leading design efforts and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality audio solutions. Your ability to multi-task and learn new technologies quickly makes you a valuable asset in a fast-paced environment. You thrive in collaborative settings and are passionate about creating impactful audio experiences for consumers.

Desirable

Experience with STB and DTV audio systems is a plus, as is familiarity with tuning hardware for optimal audio performance. You are also encouraged to apply if you have experience with audio tools such as Audio Precision.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and implement audio features that work seamlessly across various embedded products. You will develop audio software that runs on ARM and DSP architectures using bare metal, Linux, and other high-level operating systems. Your responsibilities will include optimizing and porting audio and speech processing algorithms, as well as integrating vendor hardware and software stacks. You will tune hardware to achieve the highest audio performance while minimizing noise, ensuring that the audio functionalities meet the needs of Amazon customers.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that audio features are aligned with product goals and user expectations. Your work will have a significant impact on the overall user experience, as you will be responsible for delivering high-quality audio solutions that enhance the functionality of Amazon's consumer technology products. You will also be expected to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the team.
