Who you are
You have a strong background in safety engineering, particularly in workplace health and safety, with experience in risk assessments and compliance with safety regulations. You understand the importance of ensuring that equipment meets all applicable codes and standards, and you are skilled in interpreting and applying regulations effectively. Your collaborative nature allows you to partner with various engineering and operations teams to drive safety initiatives. You are detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
You possess knowledge of ISO12100 and ANSI B11 practices, which are essential for conducting thorough risk evaluations. Your ability to develop policies, standards, and safe operating procedures demonstrates your commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. You are comfortable advising engineering organizations on regulatory compliance and good engineering practices, ensuring that safety is prioritized in equipment design and modifications.
Desirable
Experience in the logistics or manufacturing sectors is a plus, as it provides context for the unique challenges faced in these environments. Familiarity with Amazon's operational processes and equipment will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team. What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for partnering with Amazon Worldwide Design Engineering teams to ensure that new equipment and modifications comply with all relevant safety standards. You will lead risk assessments and provide guidance on safety controls and devices, working closely with various stakeholders to address risk identification and management. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting regulations and advising teams on compliance concerns.
You will participate in the development of new standards alongside Engineering, Amazon Robotics, and other key stakeholders, ensuring that safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of equipment design. Your role will involve supporting the development of policies and training programs that promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Additionally, you will be required to travel 25-50% of the time to collaborate with teams across different locations, ensuring that safety practices are consistently applied throughout Amazon's operations. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and well-being of employees and the efficiency of operations.
