You have 3+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building innovative and mission-critical cloud systems. You understand the importance of customer experience and are passionate about creating solutions that enhance it. You have a strong background in designing and implementing microservices and APIs, and you are comfortable working with high-volume transaction systems. You are proactive in identifying improvements to current designs and can effectively propose and implement changes that benefit dependent systems. You are also committed to raising the quality bar with every code and design artifact you produce.

You have experience mentoring new engineers, helping them onboard effectively and grow in their roles. You are adaptable and eager to adopt the latest technologies, ensuring that your team stays at the forefront of innovation. You have a strong operational mindset, focusing on reducing overhead and optimizing costs while building best practices for your team. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

Desirable

Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms is a plus, as is familiarity with monitoring tools and practices. You may also have experience in building scalable systems that handle millions of transactions, which will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Software Dev Engineer II at Amazon FireTV, you will own the design and implementation of micro cloud services and APIs that power our content-forward experience for millions of customers. You will be responsible for ensuring that these services can handle ultra-high volume transactions while maintaining a seamless customer experience. You will work closely with your team to identify areas for improvement in current designs and propose innovative solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.

You will take ownership of your microservices and components, adopting the latest technologies to build quality guard rails, alarms, and monitors. Your role will involve making short-term and long-term trade-offs to optimize customer experience, and you will champion operational excellence within your team. You will also be involved in onboarding new engineers, providing mentorship and guidance as they acclimate to their roles.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will collaborate with other teams to ensure that your services integrate smoothly with existing systems. You will participate in code reviews and design discussions, contributing your insights to help raise the quality of the team's output. You will also be expected to stay updated on industry trends and best practices, continuously looking for ways to improve your team's processes and outputs.
