Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong interest in building and architecting scalable, low latency, and fault-tolerant APIs — you understand the importance of performance and reliability in high-traffic environments. You are eager to collaborate with a team that values community and teamwork, and you thrive in an environment where problem-solving is key.
You are familiar with GraphQL and have experience working with APIs — you understand how to develop, maintain, and innovate around first-party APIs and real-time platforms. You are excited about the opportunity to contribute to a platform that handles billions of notifications per day, and you are ready to take on the challenges that come with it.
What you'll do
As a Software Development Engineer on the API Platform team, you will help develop and maintain high-traffic, internet-facing services that power Twitch's web and mobile clients. You will work on one of the biggest GraphQL edge services in the industry, focusing on performance and throughput. Your role will involve collaborating with multiple teams to ensure that the services you build are robust and scalable.
You will be responsible for innovating around the messaging platforms that power real-time capabilities on the Twitch website and native apps. This includes working on the internal and external messaging systems that connect various downstream services. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and optimizing existing services to improve their performance and reliability.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience on Twitch, and you will play a key role in shaping the future of the platform.
