Overview

Amazon is hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager for the Leo Networking team to oversee the development and delivery of satellite networking services. You'll work with AWS and Jira to manage complex multi-subsystem programs. This role requires strong technical and project management skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in technical program management, particularly in software and networking projects — you've successfully led cross-functional teams and managed complex technical specifications. Your background includes working with satellite or networking technologies, giving you a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities in this field.

You possess strong organizational skills and are adept at using tools like Jira to manage tasks, budgets, and schedules — you understand how to establish mechanisms that ensure timely delivery and quality outcomes. Your ability to aggregate and convert technical specifications into actionable plans is a key strength.

You are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, meeting the export control requirements for this role — your legal status allows you to work on sensitive projects that require compliance with U.S. regulations. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with engineers and stakeholders to drive projects forward.

Desirable

Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and satellite communications would be a significant advantage — familiarity with the technical aspects of ground and space subsystems will help you excel in this role. A background in agile methodologies and scrum management is also beneficial, as you will be responsible for managing scrums and ensuring that all team members are aligned on project goals.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be accountable for building and scaling the Leo Networking and Services Development Program — your primary responsibility will be to create and manage a complex multi-subsystem program plan that encompasses the development, testing, and delivery of end-to-end software networking services. You will work closely with various teams to map hardware and software co-dependencies, ensuring that all technical developments are accurately tracked against major milestones.

You will establish mechanisms to manage scrums, Jira tasks, budgets, and overall delivery for the SDN Networking software — your leadership will be crucial in coordinating efforts across different subsystems, including customer terminals, gateways, and AWS services. You will also be responsible for maintaining dashboards that provide visibility into project progress and performance metrics.

Your role will involve regular communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and timelines — you will facilitate discussions that help resolve any technical challenges that arise during the development process. You will also play a key role in risk management, identifying potential issues early and developing mitigation strategies.

What we offer

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including salary, equity, and sign-on payments — you will also have access to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The work environment is collaborative and innovative, with a focus on tackling challenging problems in the satellite networking space. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a mission that aims to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to underserved areas, making a meaningful impact on communities and organizations.

This position will remain posted until filled, and we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds, and believe that innovation thrives in inclusive environments.
