Overview
Amazon is hiring a Senior Payload Integration & Test Engineer to oversee integration and testing for Low Earth Orbit satellites. You'll work with AWS, Python, and Linux to ensure payload functionality and performance. This role requires strong collaboration skills and experience in testing environments.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in integration and testing, particularly in aerospace or satellite systems — you've successfully managed complex test campaigns and understand the nuances of payload verification. Your background includes working with satellite systems, ground gateways, and customer terminals, giving you a comprehensive view of the entire integration process.
You are proficient in AWS and have experience with Python for scripting and automation — you can define test cases, execute them, and analyze results effectively. Your familiarity with Linux environments allows you to troubleshoot and optimize testing setups, ensuring that all systems function as intended.
You thrive in collaborative environments and have a proven track record of engaging with cross-functional teams — you can communicate effectively with systems, hardware, and software engineers to capture requirements and define use cases. Your flexibility and responsiveness enable you to adapt to fast-paced project demands while maintaining a focus on quality and performance.
Desirable
Experience with satellite payloads or telecommunications systems would be a significant advantage — you understand the challenges of testing in a space environment and can apply that knowledge to ground testing scenarios. Familiarity with performance testing methodologies and tools will help you excel in this role.
What you'll do
As a Senior Payload Integration & Test Engineer, you will conceptualize and execute comprehensive test campaigns that assess functionality and performance of satellite payloads — your role will involve defining test strategies, executing tests, and reporting on outcomes to ensure that all systems meet the required specifications. You will engage with various engineering teams to capture requirements and work backwards from product strategy to ensure alignment with project goals.
You will be responsible for end-to-end functional and performance testing, which includes ground equipment, satellite systems, and customer terminals — your expertise will guide the integration of new features in the lab with test equipment, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together. You will also troubleshoot and reproduce on-orbit issues in the lab, providing critical insights that inform future design and testing processes.
Your role will require you to document test results and optimize testing processes based on findings — you will analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, contributing to the overall success of the Amazon LEO initiative. You will collaborate closely with your team to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
What we offer

We offer competitive compensation, including equity and comprehensive benefits, to support your well-being and professional growth.
Join us in Redmond, Washington, where you will work alongside talented professionals who are passionate about technology and its potential to change lives — we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
