Job Description
Who you are
You have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience delivering production AI systems. With at least 5+ years of experience in a similar role, you possess expert knowledge of deep learning and modern NLP, including transformer architectures and foundation model adaptation. Your proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is complemented by your experience deploying models in production systems.
You thrive in environments where ambiguity, scale, and cutting-edge innovation intersect. Your hands-on technical leadership has taken novel ideas from research inception to production deployment, and you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of whatβs possible today to define whatβs next. You have a strong understanding of scientific rigor and the ability to navigate complex challenges in AI.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming how users discover, engage, and transact across the Apple ecosystem. You will lead research initiatives that leverage advanced machine learning and large language models to drive innovation. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will develop and implement state-of-the-art AI solutions that enhance user experiences and optimize commerce systems.
Your responsibilities will include conducting applied research in Generative AI and LLM architectures, developing and fine-tuning models for domain-specific reasoning, and ensuring the successful deployment of these models in production environments. You will also mentor junior researchers and contribute to the overall growth of the AI research team.
