Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive leadership experience in Kubernetes and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) — you've built and led high-performing engineering teams that excel in designing and operating mission-critical infrastructure. Your hands-on expertise in Kubernetes allows you to guide your team effectively while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

You possess strong collaboration skills — you understand the importance of working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated cloud solutions. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly ensures that you can partner effectively with engineers and stakeholders alike.

You are passionate about building systems that scale globally — your experience in managing infrastructure that serves thousands of developers worldwide has equipped you with the knowledge to tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment. You thrive on the responsibility of ensuring high availability and reliability in the services you oversee.

You are committed to contributing to the upstream Kubernetes community — your involvement in open-source projects demonstrates your dedication to improving the technology and sharing knowledge with others in the field. You believe in the power of community and collaboration to drive innovation.

Desirable

Experience with cloud solutions and integrated systems is a plus — familiarity with various cloud platforms will enhance your ability to lead your team in delivering robust solutions. A background in software development will also be beneficial as you guide your team in extending and enhancing Kubernetes capabilities.

What you'll do

As the Software Engineering Manager for the Apple Services Engineering (ASE) team, you will lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers focused on designing, building, and operating Kubernetes infrastructure. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that the systems you oversee are reliable, scalable, and capable of serving millions of customers.

You will collaborate with talented engineers to develop software that extends Kubernetes capabilities — your role will involve not only managing the team but also contributing to the technical direction and architecture of the systems you build. You will ensure that your team is equipped with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

You will partner with engineering teams across Apple to deliver integrated cloud solutions — your ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders will be essential in aligning goals and ensuring successful project outcomes. You will facilitate discussions that drive innovation and improve processes.

You will be responsible for mentoring and developing your team members — fostering a culture of growth and learning is important to you, and you will prioritize career development and performance management within your team. You will conduct regular one-on-ones and provide constructive feedback to help your team members excel.

You will oversee the operational aspects of Kubernetes infrastructure — ensuring that systems are monitored, maintained, and optimized for performance will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will implement best practices for incident management and capacity planning to ensure high availability.

What we offer

We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with a supportive work environment that encourages professional growth. You will have access to resources and training that will help you stay at the forefront of technology and leadership practices.
