Who you are

You have a BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and bring 3+ years of relevant industry experience to the table. Your expertise lies in software and hardware performance analysis and optimization, particularly within GPU programming models such as Metal and CUDA. You are well-versed in machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and have a strong understanding of linear algebra algorithms. Your ability to communicate effectively across both hardware and software organizations sets you apart, allowing you to bridge gaps and foster collaboration.

Desirable

An MS or PhD in a related field would be a plus, as would experience specifically in CUDA C++ for machine learning applications. You have a keen interest in optimizing large language model (LLM) inference for low latency and have worked on scaling these optimizations in cloud or datacenter environments. Your analytical mindset and problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges in performance optimization.

What you'll do

As a GPU Engineer at Apple, you will analyze the performance of linear algebra and machine learning algorithms, contributing to the Neural Accelerator effort. Your role will involve developing and optimizing GPU kernels to enhance the performance of ML frameworks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the GPU architecture meets the demands of high-performance computing tasks. Your insights will drive improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of GPU utilization across various applications.

You will also be responsible for conducting performance analysis and providing actionable recommendations to improve system performance.
