Who you are

You hold a PhD in computer science, statistics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or operations research, and you have a strong foundation in the hard sciences. With at least three publications in top-tier machine learning, statistics, or natural language processing venues, you have demonstrated your ability to contribute to the academic community. Your deep knowledge of foundation models is complemented by hands-on experience in training these models and applying them to complex datasets, as evidenced by your publications or code repositories. You are skilled in designing experiments to understand how foundation models work, and you possess knowledge of Bayesian statistical methods and their application in scientific inference.

What you'll do

In this role, you will join a small team of researchers dedicated to performing fundamental research on foundation models for scientific domains. You will be involved in all aspects of research, from project definition to method development and experimental design. You will run your own experiments, analyze and interpret the results, and actively contribute to writing papers for publication. Your findings will not only advance academic knowledge but also be applied to solve practical problems within Apple. Collaboration with partner teams across the company will be a key aspect of your work, allowing you to leverage diverse expertise and drive innovation in product directions.
