Who you are

You have over 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong background in architecting, developing, and maintaining scalable distributed systems. Your technical leadership skills shine through your ability to mentor teams and guide projects to success. You are well-versed in the principles of security and user privacy, which are crucial in the digital identity space.

Your expertise includes developing and launching web services using Java and/or Kotlin, with a solid understanding of Spring Boot as a valuable asset. You have hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly S3 and DynamoDB, which are essential for building robust backend systems. Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal or similar is a plus, as is your ability to design, build, and document client-facing and server-facing APIs using REST and/or gRPC.

You are knowledgeable about observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog, which help ensure the reliability and performance of the systems you build. Your experience encompasses the full lifecycle of software development, including design, architecture, development, testing, and maintenance. You also have a good grasp of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code practices, which are vital for modern software development.

What you'll do

In this role, you will join Apple’s Wallet Identity Server team, where you will contribute to building the future of digital identity. You will work at the intersection of distributed systems and cryptography, implementing cutting-edge identity features that allow users to utilize their IDs in various contexts, including in-person, in-app, and on the web. Your work will involve collaborating with digital credential issuers, such as state and national governments, to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

You will be responsible for designing and developing backend systems that are secure, scalable, and efficient. This includes architecting solutions that meet the highest levels of security and user privacy while adhering to industry standards like ISO 18013/23220 and ICAO 9303. Your role will require you to actively contribute to shaping the digital identity ecosystem, ensuring that Apple remains at the forefront of innovation in this space.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You will also engage in code reviews, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the codebase remains maintainable and efficient.
