Apple is hiring a Prototyping Systems Engineer to develop forward-looking prototype systems in collaboration with engineers across the company. You hold a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar engineering degree β€” your educational background has equipped you with a solid foundation in engineering principles. You have experience in the design of computer systems, which has honed your ability to create innovative solutions. Your curiosity drives you to explore new technologies and methodologies, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can share ideas and learn from others. You are a self-motivated individual who enjoys tackling complex challenges and turning daring ideas into reality. Your strong problem-solving skills enable you to navigate obstacles effectively, and you are comfortable working with both hardware and software components.

Desirable

Experience with Cortex-M profiles is a plus, as it demonstrates your familiarity with microcontroller architectures. A background in prototyping or product development would further enhance your fit for this role, showcasing your ability to bring concepts to life through practical implementation.

What you'll do

As a Prototyping Systems Engineer at Apple, you will be part of the Platform Architecture group, responsible for creating livable prototypes that integrate hardware and software seamlessly. You will participate in the overall system design, contributing to top-level diagrams and schematic reviews. Collaborating closely with software engineering partners, you will help prepare the operating system, bootstrap, and device drivers for various projects. Once hardware is fabricated, you will work alongside electrical and mechanical engineers on bring-up and debugging processes, ensuring that prototypes function as intended. Your role will involve applying engineering fundamentals and potentially starting from scratch to develop innovative solutions that enhance user experiences.
