Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in application security, with experience in integrating security tools into development environments. Your expertise in OWASP principles and secure coding practices enables you to effectively mitigate vulnerabilities and reduce risks. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product design and software engineering, to lead security design reviews and threat modeling initiatives. Your experience includes performing code reviews and developing lightweight processes to embed security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC). You are proactive in participating in incident response and vulnerability remediation efforts, ensuring that security is a priority throughout the organization.
Desirable
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Python is a plus. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes will help you excel in this role. A passion for biotechnology and a desire to contribute to securing sensitive data in the biotech sector will set you apart.
What you'll do
As an Application Security Engineer at Benchling, you will be responsible for building and integrating both external and internal security tools into our development and build environments. You will collaborate closely with engineers to identify the best strategies for mitigating vulnerabilities and reducing risks. Your role will involve performing thorough code reviews of our services and applications, ensuring that security practices are embedded in the SDLC workflow. You will partner with the Product Design and Software Engineering teams to lead security design reviews and contribute to our security and privacy initiatives. Additionally, you will participate in incident response efforts and help develop secure coding and design practices, providing training to engineering teams to enhance their security awareness.
