Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong background in designing and managing scalable ETL pipelines. You understand the importance of data architecture and modeling, and you have a proven track record of enabling teams to make impactful business decisions through data. Your expertise in SQL allows you to create and optimize data models and schemas effectively.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineering and product teams to unblock new product launches. You are detail-oriented and have a strong analytical mindset, which helps you identify opportunities for improvement in data processes. You are passionate about using data to drive compliance and ensure a safe user experience.
Desirable
Experience with compliance-related data engineering is a plus, as is familiarity with financial systems and suspicious activity detection. You are comfortable working with large datasets and have a knack for problem-solving in complex scenarios. You enjoy mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge with the team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing scalable ETL pipelines that support the detection and reporting of suspicious financial crimes activity across Block's platforms. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that data flows seamlessly between systems, enabling compliance teams to make informed decisions.
You will create new data models and optimize existing schemas to enhance data accessibility and usability. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of compliance efforts, helping to minimize and potentially eliminate bad activity on the platform. You will also be involved in dashboarding and reporting, providing insights that drive strategic decisions.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with engineering, product, and compliance teams to align on data needs and priorities. You will participate in design discussions and contribute to the overall data strategy of the organization. Your ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be essential.
