Box is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to build internal tools and platforms that empower engineering teams. You'll work with Java, Python, and AWS to ensure reliability and observability in production systems. This role requires strong experience in cloud technologies and incident management.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on site reliability — you've built and maintained production systems that are reliable and scalable, and you understand the intricacies of cloud infrastructure. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to develop robust tools that enhance system performance and reliability.
You are proficient in AWS and have hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes — you know how to leverage these technologies to create efficient deployment pipelines and ensure high availability of services. Your strong Linux skills enable you to troubleshoot and optimize system performance effectively.
You are familiar with version control systems like Git and understand the importance of CI/CD practices in maintaining code quality and deployment efficiency — you have implemented these practices in your previous roles to streamline development workflows. Your experience with Terraform allows you to manage infrastructure as code, ensuring consistency and repeatability in your deployments.
You have a solid understanding of monitoring and alerting systems — you know how to set up effective monitoring solutions that provide insights into system health and performance. Your experience with incident management means you can respond to outages and performance issues swiftly, minimizing downtime and impact on users.
Desirable
Experience with microservices architecture is a plus — you understand the challenges and benefits of building applications in a distributed manner. Familiarity with observability tools and practices will help you enhance the reliability of our systems further.
What you'll do
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Box, you will be responsible for building and maintaining internal tools that empower engineering teams to develop reliable and observable systems. You will collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure that our services are production-ready and meet the highest reliability standards.
You will design and implement monitoring solutions that provide real-time insights into system performance, enabling proactive identification of issues before they impact users. Your role will involve creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that facilitate smooth deployments and reduce the risk of errors in production.
You will participate in incident response activities, leading efforts to diagnose and resolve outages while conducting post-mortems to identify areas for improvement. Your expertise will guide the team in adopting best practices for reliability and performance optimization.
You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge of site reliability practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability of Box's platform, helping us deliver exceptional service to our customers.
What we offer
At Box, we offer a collaborative and innovative work environment where you can thrive. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to projects that have a significant impact on our customers' success. We value diversity and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement.
We provide competitive compensation and benefits, including opportunities for professional development and growth within the company. Join us in transforming how organizations manage their content and workflows in the AI-first era.
