Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on financial applications — your experience includes developing and maintaining software solutions that support financial reporting and fund administration. You are proficient in Java and understand the intricacies of building scalable applications that cater to the needs of fund CFOs and accountants.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams — your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensures that you can translate complex requirements into actionable tasks. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for problem-solving, especially when it comes to optimizing financial processes through technology.
You are familiar with the venture capital and private equity landscape — your understanding of the unique challenges faced by these industries allows you to contribute meaningfully to the development of tailored software solutions. You are committed to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends in software development and financial technology.
Desirable
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus — you understand the benefits of leveraging cloud infrastructure to enhance application performance and scalability. Familiarity with Agile methodologies is also desirable, as it aligns with the team's approach to software development.
What you'll do
As a Senior Software Engineer I at Carta, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing our Fund Administration platform — your primary focus will be on developing features that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting tools. You will collaborate closely with product managers and designers to ensure that the software meets user needs and adheres to industry standards.
You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation and testing — your expertise will guide the team in making architectural decisions that support scalability and maintainability. You will also be responsible for writing clean, efficient code and conducting code reviews to uphold quality standards within the team.
In addition to development tasks, you will engage in troubleshooting and debugging issues that arise in production — your analytical skills will be crucial in identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their roles.

At Carta, we foster a culture of innovation and collaboration — you will be part of a team that values your input and encourages you to take ownership of your work. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including opportunities for professional development and growth within the company. Join us in shaping the future of private market infrastructure — your contributions will directly impact how funds operate and report their financials, making a meaningful difference in the industry. We believe in the power of diverse teams and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement.
