Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable and reliable systems. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to tackle complex engineering challenges effectively, and you have a strong understanding of database management, particularly with PostgreSQL. You are comfortable working with REST APIs and have experience with containerization technologies like Docker, which you use to streamline development and deployment processes.

You thrive in collaborative environments and understand the importance of aligning technical architecture with product goals. Your ability to communicate effectively with frontend and platform teams ensures that you can drive technical decisions that benefit the entire product. You are also committed to fostering a strong team culture that emphasizes engineering standards and customer focus.

Desirable

Experience with data processing and analytics systems is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS. You are open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving needs of the team and product.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Product Analytics team, you will design, build, and maintain core backend systems that support data ingestion and processing from multiple sources. Your work will ensure that these systems are scalable, reliable, and high-performing, enabling product managers and designers to make data-driven decisions.

You will drive technical architecture decisions in alignment with product goals, collaborating closely with frontend and platform teams to tailor Datadog's storage and query solutions to meet the needs of the analytics product. Your hands-on engineering work will include coding, conducting code reviews, and participating in design reviews to uphold the quality of the codebase.
