Who you are

You are a technical writer with at least 3 years of relevant experience writing developer documentation — you have a strong understanding of how to create clear and engaging content that helps users understand complex technical concepts. You are experienced in using Markdown, a static-site generator, and GitHub to develop and publish documentation with a ‘Docs as Code’ approach — this means you are comfortable working in a version-controlled environment and understand the importance of maintaining documentation standards.

You have a knack for gathering technical details by reviewing internal product materials and conducting hands-on testing of products — this allows you to create accurate and helpful documentation that meets the needs of developers. You are detail-oriented and have a strong editorial eye, enabling you to review and provide feedback on documentation written by others to maintain quality and consistency across all materials.

What you'll do

In this role, you will partner with product and engineering teams to manage documentation projects and create public user documentation for Datadog's observability and automation products — your work will directly impact how developers interact with Datadog's tools. You will gather technical details for public documentation by reviewing internal product materials and conducting hands-on testing of products, ensuring that the documentation is both accurate and user-friendly.

You will create developer-facing documentation and guides for Datadog SDKs, APIs, and developer tools — your goal is to enable the developer community to onboard and succeed with Datadog's products. You will also collaborate with the documentation team to help maintain documentation standards and contribute to ongoing process improvements, ensuring that the documentation remains up-to-date and relevant.

Additionally, you will participate in a business-hours interrupt-handling rotation to respond to documentation questions, requests, and issues as they arise — this aspect of the role requires you to be proactive and responsive to the needs of the team and the developer community. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively will be key to your success in this position.
