You have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly in building scalable systems that support observability features. Your background includes working with data pipelines and real-time data processing, which allows you to bring clarity to complex systems and drive architectural convergence. You thrive in collaborative environments and are skilled at guiding cross-functional teams to identify shared patterns and unify backend infrastructure.

You possess a deep understanding of technologies such as Kafka and Redis, which you have used to build and scale data pipelines. Your experience with frontend observability products, including RUM and session replay, equips you to contribute effectively to the Digital Experience Monitoring pillar at Datadog. You are passionate about shaping technical vision and execution across multiple products, unlocking rapid innovation for years to come.

What you'll do

As a Staff Engineer on the RUM Platform team, you will design and evolve platform infrastructure that supports frontend observability products. Your role will involve building and scaling data pipelines to ingest, transform, and serve real-time user experience data. You will partner with SDK, frontend, and OpenTelemetry contributors to support a growing number of data platforms and open standards in frontend instrumentation.

You will lead foundational engineering work that enables scalable, cross-product integrations across critical observability features such as session replay, error tracking, feature flags, and product analytics. Your hands-on approach will help you solve ambiguous, high-impact technical problems, applying your deep systems knowledge to enhance the overall architecture. You will also guide cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that teams work together effectively to achieve shared goals.
