You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable and resilient systems — you've taken ownership of complex services and understand the intricacies of high-traffic environments. Your expertise in Java and Spring allows you to create robust applications that can handle millions of concurrent users seamlessly.

You are passionate about streaming technologies and have experience with video pipelines, whether LIVE or VOD — you understand the challenges of delivering high-quality content under pressure and are eager to push the boundaries of playback excellence. Your ability to choose the right tools for the job reflects your commitment to quality and performance.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams — your communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You take pride in mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of learning within your team.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure would be a plus, as would familiarity with encoding technologies such as Bitmovin. If you have worked on scheduling or orchestration services, that would be highly beneficial.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at DAZN, you will be responsible for designing and implementing backend services that support our streaming platform. You will work closely with the Streaming organization to enhance our LIVE and VOD video pipeline, ensuring that our systems are scalable and resilient under high load.

You will take ownership of multiple services, including a scheduling service for DAZN’s Headend and an orchestration service that drives VOD content through Bitmovin’s encoding platform. Your role will involve collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality features that enhance user experience.

You will also be expected to participate in code reviews, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and contribute to the overall technical direction of the team. Your insights will help shape the architecture and design of our systems, ensuring they meet the demands of millions of fans.
