You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that scale effectively. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of debugging distributed systems. Your expertise in JVM programming languages is complemented by a solid understanding of event-driven architecture, allowing you to contribute meaningfully to the design and development of key platform services.

Your experience with AWS is extensive, and you are comfortable leveraging cloud services to enhance application performance and reliability. You thrive in collaborative environments, working cross-functionally with various teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are resourceful and passionate about creating products that provide real-time financial flexibility for users living paycheck to paycheck.

Desirable

Experience with agile methodologies and familiarity with CI/CD practices would be advantageous. You are open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving needs of the team. A background in financial technology or similar industries is a plus, as it aligns with Earnin's mission to empower users with their earnings.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Earnin, you will be a key player in the Live Pay team, contributing to the design and development of essential platform services. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to create solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency. Your role will involve writing high-quality, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to ensure best practices are followed.

You will be responsible for optimizing existing services and implementing new features that align with user needs and business goals. Your expertise in JVM programming languages will be crucial as you tackle complex challenges and develop scalable solutions. You will also engage in troubleshooting and resolving production issues, ensuring that our services remain reliable and performant.

In addition to technical responsibilities, you will have opportunities to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers. You will participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall strategy of the engineering team, ensuring that your insights help shape the direction of our projects.
