Job Description
Who you are
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With 5 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or Controls/Automation in an industrial or commercial environment, you are well-versed in the technical demands of data center operations. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and are familiar with OSHA standard safety equipment. Your ability to work non-standard hours and adapt to different work rotations makes you a reliable team member.
You possess knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units. Your experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants has equipped you with the skills to troubleshoot and maintain complex systems. You are comfortable communicating with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems, ensuring that operations run smoothly.
What you'll do
As a Data Center Facilities Technician at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of the data center. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as water pumps, HVAC, UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that everything is functioning optimally. Additionally, you will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the data center operations.
