Overview

Google is seeking a Data Center Technician III to manage and maintain server hardware and software in their Global Server Operations team. You'll work with Linux operating systems and networking protocols in Farciennes and Saint-Ghislain, Belgium.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with a solid understanding of operating systems and networking protocols. Your experience includes working with computer hardware and server hardware, where you've honed your troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. You thrive in environments like data centers or network operation centers, and you have a knack for project management and leadership. Your familiarity with Linux operating systems sets you apart, and you possess the ability to collaborate effectively with teams to resolve technical issues.

Desirable

Experience in maintenance and monitoring of server systems is a plus, as is any background in leading small project teams. You are comfortable with the physical demands of the role, including manual movement and installation of racks, and you are excited to work with cutting-edge infrastructure that supports Google's powerful technology.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Technician III, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software, including Google's Linux cluster. Your role will involve configuring and troubleshooting complex components like networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and various networking protocols. You will also participate in or lead small project teams on larger installations, developing project contingency plans as necessary. A typical day will see you resolving escalated technical issues regarding affected equipment and helping to test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs. You will be expected to communicate effectively with different stakeholders to ensure that technical issues are resolved promptly.
