Who you are
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical field. With 5 years of experience in mission-critical facility maintenance and operations, you are skilled in performing switching on High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) equipment. Your troubleshooting expertise extends to electrical distribution systems, ensuring that you can effectively address any issues that arise.
Your experience includes planning and executing installation, commissioning, and equipment startup, adhering to industry best practices and protocols. You possess a solid understanding of mechanical systems in data center environments, as well as controls and monitoring systems. Your knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and digital metering equipment is extensive.
Fluency in both English and French is essential for supporting client relationship management in the region. You excel in written and verbal communication, demonstrating excellent teamwork skills and the ability to prioritize work efficiently. Your commitment to safety and adherence to environmental health policies is unwavering, ensuring that all operational tasks align with established protocols.
What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include managing heating and cooling systems for air and water, overseeing power supply, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution and control systems. You will work closely with the Data Center team to design and operate sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems.
You will be tasked with reducing operational costs and improving efficiency while producing standards and templates for power quality monitoring, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance logs for critical systems. Your role will require strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring that all maintenance procedures align perfectly with established regulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall performance of the data center, contributing to the success of Google's mission-critical operations.
