With at least 3 years in a technical leadership role and 2 years in people management, you understand the nuances of guiding a team while optimizing code and project goals. Your experience in a complex, matrixed organization has equipped you with the skills to navigate challenges effectively.

You possess a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, which complements your extensive experience. You are adept at providing technical leadership on major projects and ensuring that your team of engineers can optimize their work. You thrive in environments where you can contribute to product strategy while also focusing on team development and performance.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Manager II at Google, you will lead a team of software engineers working on Google Cloud Compute. Your role will involve not only managing project goals but also contributing to the broader product strategy. You will guide your team in designing and vetting systems, ensuring that they adhere to best practices in code quality and efficiency. You will be responsible for reviewing code developed by your engineers, providing constructive feedback to foster their growth and adherence to style guidelines.

You will engage with various teams across the company, collaborating on projects that span information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and more. Your leadership will help shape the direction of your team’s work, ensuring that they are aligned with Google’s ambitious goals. You will also be involved in writing product or system development code to address ambiguous problems, further enhancing your team's capabilities.
