Data Center Facilities Technician • Entry-Level

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With at least 2 years of electrical experience, you are familiar with electrical maintenance, safety, and infrastructure systems in industrial or commercial settings. You are capable of handling material tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and are comfortable using OSHA standard safety equipment. You are flexible with your work hours and can adapt to different shifts as needed.

You possess knowledge of electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. Your experience includes working with meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools and digital metering. You can effectively communicate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician I, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities systems and equipment in Google’s data centers. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, and electrical distribution systems. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities and assist in the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment into the facilities infrastructure. Your role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the data center operations.
