Google is hiring a Data Center Technician to perform assembly, repairs, and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You'll work with operating systems, computer/server hardware, and networking protocols in Ridgeville, SC.
Job Description
Who you are
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You possess the physical ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are flexible and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required.
You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, and you have completed the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. With at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols, you are well-prepared for this role. You have experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment Engineer, or Help Desk Technician. Additionally, you have experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will install, configure, and test various technical equipment while ensuring that all operations meet Google security standards. You will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with operating systems and hardware, collaborating with teams to overcome challenges, and adapting to changes in a dynamic work environment. You will also disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, working in a team setting to repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance.
