Google is hiring a Data Center Technician to perform assembly and troubleshooting of hardware systems. You'll work with Linux and networking protocols in Council Bluffs. This position requires experience in diagnosing technical equipment.
Job Description
Who you are
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are familiar with diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You possess the physical capability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are willing to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required.
You hold a Bachelor's degree or have equivalent practical experience. You have completed the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate program and have at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols. You have experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as Systems Administration or Help Desk Technician. You have worked within a data center or network operation center environment and can collaborate with teams to overcome challenges while adapting to changes in a dynamic work environment.
What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware systems. You will be responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. You will disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, working in a team setting. Your role will involve repairing, fixing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance.
You will collaborate with various teams to ensure that security issues are handled in accordance with Google security standards. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency and reliability of Google's data center operations, making you an integral part of the Hardware Operations team.
