Software Engineering Manager • Lead

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. With at least 5 years of experience leading machine learning design and optimizing ML infrastructure, you understand the intricacies of model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning. Your technical leadership experience spans over 3 years, and you have spent 2 years in a people management or team leadership role. You are fluent in both Mandarin and English, enabling you to effectively partner with local clients and regional partners.

Your preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. You have experience working in complex, matrixed organizations involving cross-functional or cross-business projects, and you excel at collaborating with customers and field teams. You are adept at developing internal quality and repro testing to cover critical user journeys and have a strong background in AI/ML and infrastructure technologies.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will not only provide technical leadership to major projects but also manage a team of engineers. You will optimize your own code while ensuring that your team can optimize theirs. Your responsibilities will include managing project goals, contributing to product strategy, and developing your team. You will work closely with internal infrastructure and ML teams to enhance Google Cloud's capabilities in supporting AI workloads. Additionally, you will develop and deliver training materials and demos to empower customers and internal teams, contributing to the continuous improvement of our products by identifying and reporting bugs and suggesting enhancements. Proactively identifying and addressing technical bottlenecks hindering customer success will also be a key part of your role.
