Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 3 years of experience in networking and compute infrastructure. Your background includes architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments, and you have a solid understanding of project management and technical solution delivery. You are proficient in coding with one or more general-purpose languages such as Python, Java, Go, C, or C++, and you have a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. Your ability to travel up to 30% of the time for client engagements is a key aspect of your role.
In addition to your core qualifications, you have experience with third-party networking products like PANW, Fortinet, or VMWare Cloud Foundation. You are knowledgeable in networking design, including redundancy, failover, and load balancing, and you have a knack for troubleshooting networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, and BGP. Your experience in customer-facing migration projects, including service discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and operations, sets you apart.
You are well-versed in standard IT security practices, including identity and access management, data protection, encryption, and certificate and key management. Your knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies, particularly Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), enhances your ability to deliver robust cloud solutions.
Desirable
While not mandatory, experience with additional cloud platforms or advanced networking technologies would be a plus. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of cloud solutions.
What you'll do
As a Cloud Platforms and Infrastructure Engineer at Google, you will guide customers through their cloud journey, helping them transform and evolve their business through effective cloud solutions. You will work closely with internal specialists, product, and engineering teams to package approaches, best practices, and lessons learned into thought leadership and methodologies. Your role will involve interacting with sales, partners, and customer technical stakeholders to manage project scope, priorities, deliverables, risks, and timelines.
You will be responsible for architecting and maintaining cloud solutions that meet customer needs while ensuring high availability and performance. Your expertise in networking and cloud infrastructure will be crucial in designing solutions that are both scalable and secure. You will also play a key role in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during the implementation and operation of cloud services.
Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will partner with various teams to ensure that cloud solutions align with business objectives. You will contribute to the development of methodologies and published assets that enhance the overall customer experience. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be vital in driving project success.
