Overview

Google is hiring a Data Center Facilities Technician II to operate and support physical facilities conditions in their data centers. You'll work with controls and automation systems, requiring 5 years of experience in a technical environment.

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field, along with 5 years of experience in controls and automation within an industrial or commercial environment. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and are familiar with OSHA standard safety equipment. Your ability to work non-standard hours and adapt to different work rotations is a key asset.

You possess certifications related to system administration, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+, and have a strong background in controls and automation. Your experience spans data centers, hospitals, power plants, or laboratories, and you are knowledgeable about meters, devices, sensors, relays, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician II at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of the data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and responding to abnormal conditions in the facilities systems and equipment. You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new controls equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

You will communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems, ensuring that all operations align with safety and efficiency standards. Your role will also involve conducting tours of systems and assessing their working order, as well as logging and alarming systems to maintain operational integrity.
