Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in software development using C or C++. Your background includes working with embedded systems, and you are familiar with real-time operating systems (RTOS). You possess knowledge of developing for small-footprint and low-power systems, and have experience with ARM Cortex-Mx or low-power Systems-on-a-chip (SoCs). Your expertise extends to using the GNU toolchain and cross-platform development tools, as well as understanding bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB.
You are a collaborative engineer who enjoys working closely with hardware teams on board bring-up, power management, and hardware debugging. You thrive in environments where you can debug and maintain boot-loaders, operating systems, and device drivers. Your experience with Bluetooth protocols and connectivity stacks enhances your ability to develop, debug, and integrate general embedded applications.
Desirable
A Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred. Experience with diagnostics and operations in collaboration with contract manufacturing is a plus.
What you'll do
As an Embedded Software Engineer at Google, you will work on critical projects that shape the future of Pixel Hearables. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining embedded applications, ensuring they interface seamlessly with Bluetooth protocols and various sensors and audio chipsets. You will collaborate with hardware teams to support board bring-up and power management, while also engaging in hardware debugging to ensure optimal performance.
You will be involved in debugging and maintaining boot-loaders and operating systems, as well as developing device drivers that are essential for the functionality of our products. Your role will require you to integrate general embedded applications, often working with low-power systems and ensuring that they meet the high standards expected at Google.
