Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages. Your background includes 2 years of experience in embedded systems, such as firmware, Linux kernel, or device drivers. You may also hold a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, which is preferred but not required. You are familiar with Linux and have experience with software lifecycle and build tools, as well as architecting and developing software for scalable, distributed systems. Your knowledge extends to Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, and performance and application issues, along with an understanding of CI/CD best practices. You have a solid grasp of Linux Kernel internals, which is crucial for this role.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineer III at Google, you will work on projects that are critical to the company's needs, contributing to the development of next-generation technologies that impact billions of users. You will be involved in debugging and triaging product or system issues, analyzing their sources and impacts on hardware, network, or service operations and quality. Your role will require you to ensure best practices are followed, including style guidelines, code accuracy, testability, and efficiency. You will also contribute to existing documentation and educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback.
