Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or you have equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in a SOC environment or information security role, you are familiar with the intricacies of security operations. You have hands-on experience with EDR tools like Trellix HX and NDR tools such as Trellix NX, which you have used to monitor and respond to security threats effectively.

Your experience includes log analysis to investigate and scope security incidents, allowing you to identify and mitigate potential threats. You understand the stages of the attack life-cycle, which helps you in isolating compromised hosts and stopping lateral movement or ransomware propagation. You are detail-oriented and can write logic to suppress benign patterns, enabling your team to focus on real threats.

What you'll do

As an Associate Security Analyst at Google, you will be part of the Mandiant Threat Defense team, recognized for its expertise in dynamic cyber defense and incident response services. Your primary responsibility will be to investigate security incidents, analyze logs, and contribute to the improvement of detection logic based on the evolving threat landscape. You will collaborate with other security professionals to enhance the effectiveness of YARA-L rules and detection mechanisms.

You will also be involved in isolating compromised hosts and stopping any lateral movement or ransomware propagation. Your role will require you to identify benign patterns and write logic to suppress them, which will free up your team to concentrate on genuine threats. You will be expected to stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends and threats, ensuring that your skills and knowledge remain relevant in a fast-evolving field.
