Overview

Google is hiring a Data Center Operations Facilities Manager to oversee critical facilities management and team leadership. You'll ensure operational efficiency and safety standards in data center environments. This role requires 4+ years of experience in facilities management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 4 years of experience in critical facilities management. Your background includes roles as a Facilities Manager or Chief Engineer within a critical facility, showcasing your ability to manage technical teams effectively. You are fluent in both English and French, enabling you to support client relationship management in the region. Your understanding of major critical systems in a data center environment is complemented by excellent people management and leadership skills, allowing you to influence at all levels.

You possess a Master's degree in Engineering or a related field, which enhances your qualifications for this role. Your experience collaborating with other business units to meet company goals and standards demonstrates your ability to work cross-functionally. You have a strong grasp of the sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems that are integral to data center operations.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the Data Center team in designing and operating advanced systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, such as heating and cooling systems, power supply, generators, and electrical distribution. You will develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. Additionally, you will forecast and manage established budgets, setting strategy and planning deployments across multiple sites.

You will integrate Google-wide strategy and execution with internal and external business partners, creating a strategy for cost-effective operations focused on total cost of ownership. Your critical thinking and innovative approach will be essential in addressing traditional data center challenges and emergent issues. You will also provide daily assistance to senior technicians, reading blueprints and schematics, and conducting tours of systems to assess their working order.
