Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field, along with at least 10 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or controls in an industrial or commercial environment. Your background includes working in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or power plants, and you are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment as needed. You are comfortable working non-standard hours and in rotating shifts, demonstrating flexibility in your work schedule.

You possess a strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems typical of a data center, including Transformers, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, Chillers, and Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) units. Your knowledge extends to high-voltage electrical substations, allowing you to effectively contribute to the maintenance and operation of complex systems. You are detail-oriented and capable of reading blueprints and schematics, which aids in your ability to assist senior technicians in various tasks.

What you'll do

In this role, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of Google’s data centers. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and effectively. You will provide daily assistance to senior technicians and participate in the commissioning processes, procedures, and retesting requirements following major repairs. Your role will also involve conducting Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) drills and initiatives, acting as a post-mortem advocate to ensure consistent delivery of program requirements within the region.

You will collaborate closely with site teams to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally, and you will be involved in the continuous improvement of operational processes. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the high standards expected in a mission-critical environment, and you will play a key role in supporting the overall success of the data center operations.
