Google is hiring a Senior Camera VCM Firmware Engineer to develop and implement camera actuator firmware and control systems. You'll work with C/C++, embedded Linux, and device drivers in Mountain View, CA.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, along with 5 years of experience in coding with general-purpose programming languages like C/C++. Your expertise extends to camera actuator control, firmware development, and system validation, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in these areas. You also possess a Masterβs degree or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science, which is preferred. Your experience with embedded Linux and device drivers spans at least 3 years, and you are well-versed in VCM driving and sensing technologies, including linear/PWM driving methods, Hall/TMR sensors, and I2C protocol. You have a strong foundation in linear and nonlinear control system design utilizing integrated driver ICs, and your problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are excellent.
What you'll do
In this role as a Camera Controls System Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing camera actuator firmware and control systems. You will define calibration strategies and optimize performance to ensure industry-leading autofocus (AF) and optical image stabilization (OIS) capabilities. Your expertise will be critical in troubleshooting control system failures and mitigating power, vibration, and thermal issues. You will collaborate closely with hardware, module, reliability, and software teams to integrate and advance actuator technologies. Your contributions will shape the future of Pixel devices and services, focusing on delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. You will also engage in measurement and data analysis to improve validation processes, contribute to documentation, and triage product or system issues by analyzing their sources and impacts on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
