Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and at least 8 years of experience in software development, particularly with C/C++ or Rust. Your background includes 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems and a proven track record in a technical leadership role, where you've overseen projects and managed teams effectively. You possess experience in cellular modems at the kernel system interface, which is crucial for this role.
In addition to your technical skills, you have experience working in complex, matrixed organizations, which has equipped you with the ability to navigate challenges and drive projects forward. You are familiar with bringing up USB-C stacks, sensors, and other peripherals, and you have a solid understanding of the Linux development environment, including tools like git and gerrit. Your knowledge extends to building consumer electronics and understanding the manufacturing and supply chain processes.
Desirable
A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field would be a plus, as would experience in leading teams in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with debugging and validation processes for device bring-up is also desirable, as is a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks across multiple teams.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineering Manager at Google, you will lead a team of engineers in developing innovative software solutions for Android devices, specifically laptops and tablets.
