You possess excellent collaboration skills, allowing you to work effectively with product and engineering managers on both short- and long-term planning — your ability to break down complex work and guide teammates fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and ownership. You have experience mentoring junior engineers, helping them develop their technical skills and best practices in software development.

You are adept at leading technical design for significant initiatives — your decision-making process involves making long-term tradeoff decisions and aligning designs across teams. You understand the importance of deployment, logging, and alerting in maintaining system stability and performance.

Desirable

Experience with cloud technologies and container orchestration is a plus, as is familiarity with modern development practices such as CI/CD pipelines and agile methodologies. What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer at Lob, you will have technical ownership of your team’s domain — you will influence the architecture and design of Lob’s software systems while ensuring high-quality code is written and maintained. You will lead code reviews and provide constructive feedback to your peers, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can grow.

You will work closely with other engineering teams to understand the system impacts of new work, ensuring that all changes align with the overall goals of the organization. Your role will involve creating new feature designs that enhance the user experience and meet customer needs.

You will take charge of system health, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions that enhance stability and performance. Your proactive approach will help prevent issues before they arise, ensuring a smooth experience for users.

You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them develop their skills and confidence in software development. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team through complex projects and ensuring successful outcomes.
