You have 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on fullstack development — you've built scalable, performance-optimized web applications and understand the intricacies of modern development practices. Your expertise includes working with MongoDB, Node.js, TypeScript, and React, allowing you to create robust applications that enhance developer productivity.

You possess hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks such as Cypress, Jest, and Playwright — you know how to ensure the quality of your code through effective testing strategies. Additionally, you have experience integrating CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools, which are essential for maintaining high standards in software delivery.

Your familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, GCP, or Azure, enables you to leverage cloud services effectively — you understand how to deploy applications in a cloud environment and utilize various tools to optimize performance. You also have hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm, which are crucial for managing containerized applications and ensuring scalability.

You have a solid understanding of API integrations and service discovery mechanisms — this knowledge allows you to build and maintain a robust service catalog that enhances the overall developer experience. Your experience working within distributed systems has equipped you with the skills to design highly-scalable systems across various projects.

Your communication skills are a key asset — you can successfully partner with different engineering teams, including product developers, platform engineers, and SREs, to drive projects forward. You are comfortable writing and reviewing technical design documents, ensuring clarity and alignment across teams.

Desirable

Experience with Backstage is a plus, as it aligns with the team's focus on improving developer workflows. Familiarity with modern infrastructure-as-code tools will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Fullstack Developer on the Developer Productivity team, you will design and build scalable features for MongoDB’s Internal Developer Portal using Backstage. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to improve developer workflows and internal tooling. Your role will involve contributing to architectural decisions and writing clean, maintainable code that adheres to best practices.

You will be responsible for enhancing the developer experience by implementing features that streamline workflows and improve productivity. This includes working on the integration of various tools and services that developers rely on daily. You will also play a key role in promoting best practices within the team, ensuring that all code is well-tested and documented.

Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of the development process at MongoDB, making it easier for engineers to access the resources they need. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior developers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers.
