MongoDB is hiring a Security Software Engineer for their Infrastructure Security team to design and build scalable security controls within MongoDB Atlas. You'll work with AWS, Azure, and GCP, focusing on security primitives and automation. This role requires significant experience in security engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an experienced Security Software Engineer with a strong background in designing and building scalable security controls. You have expertise in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, and you understand the intricacies of multi-cloud infrastructure security. You are familiar with Linux security mechanisms like AppArmor and SELinux, and you have experience with Kubernetes and eBPF for enforcing runtime policies. You have a solid understanding of security automation and tooling, and you are comfortable developing APIs and managing security posture at scale.

You have a collaborative mindset and enjoy working with cross-functional teams, including Site Reliability Engineering and product engineering teams, to define secure architectures. You are detail-oriented and have a proven track record of leading complex projects from discovery to implementation. You are passionate about security and committed to ensuring that infrastructure adheres to the highest security standards.

Desirable

Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code workflows is a plus, particularly with tools like Terraform. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana and Splunk will enhance your ability to provide effective security solutions. You are also knowledgeable about vulnerability management and workload identity, which are crucial for maintaining a secure environment.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and build core security primitives and services that protect MongoDB Atlas compute, networking, and identity across various cloud platforms. You will work on creating secure-by-default infrastructure using advanced Linux security mechanisms and Kubernetes. Your responsibilities will include developing APIs and automation tools that manage security posture at scale, integrating security into CI/CD workflows, and ensuring that security controls are versioned and deployed alongside other code.

You will lead complex projects from problem discovery through design and implementation, collaborating closely with SRE and engineering teams to define secure architectures for new infrastructure and services. Your role will involve building monitoring, logging, and alerting pipelines that integrate with existing tooling, ensuring that security is a fundamental aspect of the development process.

What we offer

MongoDB offers a competitive salary range for this role, with a base salary between $147,000 and $289,000 USD. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values security and innovation. The company provides comprehensive benefits, including parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, a 401(k) plan, and mental health counseling. You will also have access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage and other health benefits offerings. This role can be based out of the NYC HQ office or can be fully remote, allowing for flexibility in your work environment.
