Who you are

You have at least 4 years of experience working on backend systems, demonstrating proficiency in languages such as Node.js, Java, C#, or Go. As a backend engineer, you are open to taking on frontend tasks or consider yourself a full-stack developer with a strong bias towards backend development. You possess experience in designing and architecting modern, scalable, high-availability web applications, and you are comfortable working with databases. Collaboration is key for you, and you thrive in team environments where you can share ideas and tackle challenges together. You are approachable, curious, and intellectually honest, always eager to chase down difficult problems in a distributed system.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Developer Tools Team, you will contribute to building tools that empower MongoDB users to interact with their data effectively. Your role will involve developing features for products like mongosh, the MongoDB MCP Server, and the MongoDB VSCode extension. You will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure business continuity and incident response capabilities. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience and performance of MongoDB deployments, as well as troubleshooting and resolving complex issues that arise in a distributed environment. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the team.
