Overview
Motional is seeking a Senior Engineer - PLM/PDM to ensure the smooth operation of PLM/PDM systems and engineering toolchains. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams and require expertise in CAD tools and data management.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in engineering, specifically in PLM/PDM systems, and are well-versed in ensuring that engineering toolchains operate smoothly and reliably. Your expertise in CAD tools and data management makes you the go-to expert for resolving and escalating issues related to PLM-ERP connectivity. You thrive in collaborative environments, working cross-functionally with engineering, design, operations, and supplier teams to support day-to-day development activities while driving continuous improvement in processes and documentation.
You possess strong documentation skills and are adept at developing and maintaining standards for the Hardware Engineering organization. Your experience includes creating and updating CAD parts, assemblies, and libraries, including vehicle assemblies and vendor-provided models. You are familiar with generating detailed 2D drawings that adhere to drafting standards and GD&T best practices, ensuring that engineering documents and drawings are complete, accurate, and consistent.
Desirable
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and a background in automotive or robotics engineering would be beneficial. Familiarity with additional CAD software or engineering applications is a plus, as is a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to quality.
What you'll do
In this role, you will ensure that CAD tools, PLM/PDM systems, and engineering applications function properly. You will investigate, resolve, or escalate issues as needed, ensuring that the engineering team can work efficiently. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining documentation standards for the Hardware Engineering organization, which is crucial for maintaining consistency and quality across projects.
You will create and update CAD parts, assemblies, and libraries, which will involve working with vehicle assemblies and vendor-provided models. Generating detailed 2D drawings following drafting standards and GD&T best practices will be a key part of your role, as you support product development and sustainment initiatives.
Collaboration is essential in this position; you will work closely with designers, engineers, and technicians to ensure that all engineering documents and drawings are complete, accurate, and consistent. Your role will also involve supporting internal department projects and initiatives aimed at improving processes and documentation standards.
